Fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Prevelle, Radiesse, etc)
What are Facial Fillers ?
Facial Fillers (ie, Restylane® and Juvederm®) are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
How Long Do Facial Fillers Last?
It depends on the product. Prevelle tends to last up to 3 months, Restylane around 6 months, and Juvederm up to 9 months. These are estimations only. The filler may last shorter or longer amounts of time based on the technique and location of injection, as well as how quickly any given patient metabolizes the product or what other treatments are performed in the same area.
What Should Patients Do Prior To Treatments?
Most Facial Fillers require no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
Commonly injected areas:
Please note some of these locations are considered “off-label” and performed at the discretion of your doctor. FDA approval was for specific areas such as nasolabial folds.
LIPS
Plump the lips in a beautiful and natural looking way! You can augment the current shape of your lips to give them a little more presence, or modify the shape if so desired. The success of lip injection is very technique dependant! Dr. Patel has many happy lip injection clients who are unsuspected to even well-trained eyes!
UNDEREYE HOLLOWS
The “tear trough” area under the eyes is often an overlooked area that gives the face a tired and aged appearance. Careful and precise technique is required in this location, and not all patients are good candidates. In the appropriate candidate, filling this area can give an instantly brighter appearance to the face, without the need for surgery. It is a very important aspect of the face, and injection can make you look well-rested and rejuvenated.
NASOLABIAL FOLDS
The laugh lines, or folds that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth, tend to get deeper and more prominent with age. Adding filler to this area can mask this sign of aging, and rejuvenate the face. This area may take more than one syringe.
CHEEKS
Filler can be injected to the cheekbone area or the central aspect of the cheeks to give a lifted and contoured appearance. This area is best injected in small amounts to avoid an overdone appearance. Done well it can really give a more youthful appearance to the face and change the cheek profile to a more pleasing contour.
MARIONETTE FOLDS
The area below the corners of the mouth tend to develop hollowness or a gentle crease with age, and this can easily be corrected with the addition of filler. This can instantly brighten the face, and is often overlooked by patients who cannot figure out why they look older.
ORAL COMMISSURES
The corners of the mouth tends to turn downward with age, and filler injected here can bring the corners back to neutral or slightly upturned to give a more youthful look to the peri-oral region.
